????Baker Hughes: US rig count up 6 units to 417
????The US drilling rig count increased 6 units to reach 417 rigs working for the week ended Mar. 26, according to Baker Hughes data. The count is down 311 units from the 728 rigs working this time a year ago.
????The number of rigs drilling on land was up 7 units week-over-week with a total of 405. The number of rigs drilling offshore decreased by 1 unit to reach 12.
????US oil-directed rigs increased by 6 from last week to reach 324 units. This time a year ago, 624 units were drilling for oil. Rigs targeting gas were unchanged at 92 rigs, 10 fewer than were drilling for gas at this time a year ago.
????Of the major oil and gas-producing states, Texas saw the largest increase. A 3-rig increase brought the rig count to 205 for the week.
????Four states saw rig counts increase by a single rig, Oklahoma, 17; North Dakota, 14; Colorado, 9; and Utah, 4.
????Louisiana’s rig count decreased by 1 to reach 46 rigs drilling for the week.
????Seven states remained unchanged this week, New Mexico, 67; Pennsylvania, 18; West Virginia, 12; California, 7; Ohio, 9; Wyoming, 5; Alaska, 3.
????Canada’s rig count decreased 11 units to 81 rigs drilling for the week. The count is 27 fewer than the 54 units drilling this week a year ago. At 31 units, Canada’s oil-directed rig count is down 10 units for the week. The gas-directed rig count in Canada was down 1 unit to 50.
